2015 Tri-County All-Star Football Game

The Manheim Touchdown Club’s 14th Annual Tri-County All-Star Football Game was played on Saturday, May 23, at Elden Rettew Stadium in Manheim. The game features the best players from the Lancaster-Lebanon League, with the addition of Palmyra for Lebanon County. 36 players from Elizabethtown, Lebanon, Manheim Central, Manheim Township, ELCO, Annville-Cleona, Lancaster Catholic, Hempfield, Palmyra, Cedar Crest, Ephrata and Northern Lebanon represented the North, with 35 players from McCaskey, Solanco, Conestoga Valley, Columbia, Penn Manor, Donegal, Warwick, Lampeter-Strasburg, Wilson, Pequea Valley, Garden Sport and Cocalico representing the South.

The South squad was coached by McCaskey Head Coach Rob Monson and the North by Lebanon Head Coach Gerry Yonchiuk.

Most of the scoring was generate by big plays. The South squad jumped on top quickly in the first quarter with quarterback Tanner Erisman (Penn Manor) throwing touchdown passes to Russ Souders (L-S) and Chris Borg (Warwick). Max Chalfant (McCaskey) was 1 for 2 on his first PAT attempts giving the South a 13-0 lead. Anthony Staffieri (Manheim Central) started the game at quarterback for the North, but didn’t find the end zone in the first quarter. The North got on the board in the second quarter with a scoring strike from Issac Ray (Northern Lebanon) to Dan Weiderrecht (MC). Missing the PAT left the score at 13-6. The South scored again on a pass to LaDetrius Sibley to open up a two touchdown lead.

In the second half, Staffieri hit Jared Kramp (Lancaster Catholic) Nick Negron (Lebanon) for TDs. Steve Johnson (Hempfield) converted the second PAT in the second half to even the score at 19-19. Driving again and looking to take the lead, the North fumbled, with the ball picked up by a South player and retuned deep into the North’s territory. Staffieri ran him down to save the touchdown, Mitch Martin (Garden Spot) found Jamaar Parker (Conestoga Valley) for the eventual game winner. Chalfant added a field goal for the final 29-19 margin.

Handling the bulk of the running back duties for the North were Devon Washington (Hempfield), Nassir Weaver (Lancaster Catholic), while Tyler Spangler (Penn Manor), Connor Maxwell (Donegal) and Bryce Sadler (Donegal) carried the load out of the back field for the South. Other standout players for the North were John Groh (Annville-Cleona), Zach Christian (MC), Cartier Morton (Manheim Township), Caleb Jean-Louis (Hempfield) and Steve Mazeski (Manheim Township). Other outstanding players for the South included Kyaire Bynum (McCaskey), Devon Delpiano (Cocalico)Adam Wagaman (Warwick), Andrew Buchanan (L-S) and Cheyne Claxton (Pequea Valley).
