2002 through the present Manheim Touchdown Club has sponsored the Tri-County All Star Football Game. Players representing all Lancaster-Lebanon league schools participate in this event. History of the Game
How the All-Star Game came about...... The difficult part of the game would be to get someone to run the entire game. I spoke with Jim Cantafio about how the Berks coaches did their game but he said it is very difficult for the coaches and would be better if another organization could run the game. I took the idea to the Lancaster/Lebanon Quarterback Club regular meeting hoping that someone in the crowd (i.e. Mike Williams might say something to the Manheim Touchdown Club) might have a contact of someone to run the game. Mike went to the Manheim Touchdown Club that week and the next week at Quarterback Club he said the Manheim Touchdown Club would be interested in pursuing the idea. Personally, I feel as though this game has brought the Quarterback Club and the Manheim Touchdown Club closer together. I think other coaches in the Lancaster/Lebanon League were not really sure of the Manheim Touchdown Clubs agenda but after getting involved in this game I think the relationship between the two organizations has grown stronger. Gerad Novak,
Message from the President of the Quarterback Club The Manheim Touchdown Club also promotes graduates of Lancaster-Lebanon League Schools. They award a large school football player of the year and this year they have added a new award honoring the small college football player of the year. Their commitment to local high school football goes far beyond Manheim. They have worked tirelessly to promote the Lancaster-Lebanon League football, the coaches, and the players. I compliment and applaud the efforts of the Manheim Touchdown Club. I wish them well as they continue to support and promote local high school football. I hope that the relationship between the Lancaster-Lebanon League Quarterback Club and the Manheim Touchdown Club continues to grow and get stronger in the upcoming years. Mark Evans, |
