Honoring Student Athletes
The Manheim Touchdown Club was formed in 1998 as a non-profit organization for the development, promotion and support of Manheim Central football and the greater Lancaster/Lebanon League. The Manheim Touchdown Club each year recognizes and offers financial aid to exceptional student athletes within the greater community. From 1999 to 2006, the Manheim Touchdown Club has honored twenty-seven (27) male and female Manheim Central student athletes representing eleven (11) different varsity sports. Over $27,000.00 in awards have been given to these student athletes through 2006. The MTC will continue to seek new opportunities to recognize and support exemplary student athletes in the years to come. The annual banquet at which student athletes are honored has grown from 127 people in 1999 to over 450 in 2006.
Expansion of Services
Since its founding, The Club has expanded the scope of its activities to include the recognition of the High School Player of the Year in the Lancaster Lebanon League, and the selection of two College Players of the Year from the Lancaster Lebanon League for Division I & IAA and Division II & III. In 2002 the club undertook sponsorship of the annual Tri County All Star Football Game which features the top players from the L/L League. This event has been used as the major fund raiser for the support of the Club’s Scholarship Endowment Trust Fund. In 2004 the MTC created the “Gene Upshaw Division II Lineman of the Year Award” as voted on by the 150 Division II Sports Information Directors that participate in football on the national level.
Community Contributions
Over the years, the MTC has contributed financially to many projects to assist the Manheim Central football program including the purchase and installation of a new score board, Scholarship Endowment Trust Fund, new end zone bleachers, video equipment as well as new weight equipment and stereo equipment for the weight room.
Membership in the MTC
Membership in The Manheim Touchdown Club is open to any person who shares The Club’s interest in the sport of football as well as its commitment to academic achievement. Members must have high moral character and must be willing to devote a portion of their time and resources to the fulfillment of our goal: “Enhancing the Baron Tradition of Excellence.”
The initiation fee for membership is $1000.00. We also offer a reduced initiation fee of $500.00 for Manheim Central Football Alumni. The annual dues are $150.00. A five (5) year option for payment of the initiation fee is available to anyone who is interested with no premium. One fifth of the appropriate initiation fee plus the first year’s dues are due at the time of your application. The remaining portion of the initiation fee plus the annual dues will be billed on September 1st of each year and are payable in full no later than December 31st of the same year. If you should elect to pay the initiation fee in full we are prepared to offer you a 5% discount of the initiation fee at the time of initial application.
