The Scholar Athlete Award recognizes the academic accomplishments of seniors, who are active in sports and who exemplify character, scholarship and athletic ability.

At any educational level, extracurricular activities are integral parts of the total education program. They are essential to the growth and development of the total student. These learning experiences make it possible to strengthen all aspects of a student’s development. Students who participate on athletic teams and in other extracurricular activities comprise much of the visible student leadership in a school. Scholar athletes project an image to the community and to younger students.

Many schools have honors ceremonies where the school’s top academic students are recognized, and many schools host banquets each year to honor their best athletes. The Scholar Athlete Award combines both of those. Manheim Touchdown Club pay tribute to the amazing young men and women who find time to excel in athletics and in the classroom. They represent the best of what our schools will offer in the years to come, as they become tomorrow’s leaders. These student-athletes have shown everyone what it takes to be a winner in every aspect of life. They are excellent representatives of their school.
